Catch Returns

Completing a catch return is a condition of your permit. It provides important information to monitor the health of the river and allows the Association to make its legally required returns to Marine Scotland, the Tay Board and our proprietors.

Please note the revised rules from 2025 onwards which mean ALL salmon AND sea trout must be returned to the river.

Please make your returns regularly. This can be after every outing but importantly we need to report on MONTHLY fishing effort so please do at least one per month fished.

For any salmon caught, please check and record if they are ‘FIN-CLIPPED’ (adipose fin removed). These are hatchery fish and recording this helps to monitor returners.

The online form is the best one to use. However, if you are stuck, you can use the 2025 ANNUAL RETURN FORM available on the links page as a PDF or EXCEL file and email or send to the Secretary (details on contact page).

All returns must be completed BEFORE 15th November.
